Background
Amanda Lockett aka Ananda Lotus is a writer, teacher, artist and cultural preservationist. Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Lockett's research focuses on the language and culture of the U.S. and Caribbean south and its link to African and indigenous cultures.
Ananda is currently working on Sapelo Island, GA learning basket weaving and wild herbal foraging, which is contributing to larger preservation and archive work with the local schools, libraries, and institutions. She is most interested in cataloging and preserving important lineages of knowledge in Southern black history and making them accessible for public use and empowerment.
