ALUMNI Spotlight

After double majoring in English and Psychology with a minor in Linguistics, USC alum Kendra Calhoun (2013) went on to pursue a PhD in Linguistics at UC Santa Barbara. Her field is sociocultural linguistics, and she explores intersections of language, identity, and power in a range of contexts, from face-to-face interactions to social media. Kendra’s dissertation investigates institutional diversity rhetoric and practices in U.S. higher education and their impact on graduate students of color.
