This year, 2023, marks the 50th anniversary of the birth of hip-hop culture. For more than five decades, hip-hop culture has permeated all corners of the globe and all aspects of our society touching business, entertainment, media, advertising, sports, and education.
The University of South Carolina and its partners throughout the city of Columbia join in the celebration and acknowledgement of hip-hop’s rich, global impact. For the past year, the Hip-Hop 50 Columbia Planning Committee has convened to curate a diverse portfolio of hip-hop focused educational programs, events, and learning opportunities set to take place between August 2023-December 2023.
Join us as we engage the history, vision and the impact of this incredible culture.
